THE SEVILLE FORTRESS

The Seville fortress is one of the most visited monuments in Spain. Spain is one of the most visited countries in the world and, consequently, receive a big number of tourists from around the world, so that it profits from national tourism, as well as from foreign tourism.

There are several reasons why so many people want to visit our country, that has reached in two occasions more than 2 million visits a year. The three main reasons are its history, its appearance and its location.

HISTORY OF THE SEVILLE FORTRESS

It is difficult to find so many years of history of different cultures, kingdoms and mandates in a single monument, but the Seville fortress is one of the few. Its original construction, as a palace, began in the Middle Ages, although it was finished several decades later, giving rise to later the structure that we know nowadays.

The fortress was declared a World Heritage Site together with another monuments and places in Seville and, such is its cultural and historical wealth, that usually it is home for the Spanish Royal family when they come to Seville. This let the Seville fortress be the most ancient palace of Europe which currently preserves its original use.

A guided tour in the Seville fortress is the most recommendable option for its visitors, if they want to know each detail of the palace’s histories and its feats inside and outside of its walls and doors. Going to Seville and not enjoying it fortress is inexcusable.

APPEARANCE

The beauty and exclusivity of a place like the Seville fortress is hardly found in other places of the world. Usually, when different cultures passed through a place, they erased the traces that previous cultures had left to establish their own costumes and rules. On the contrary, in the Seville fortress we can observe a mixture of different cultures of different periods in time, in a noteworthy perfect harmony that shows “the passage of time”, as many historians express.

We can observe in it some pre-Islamic traces, as well as Islamic ones and also later Christian contributions.

Tickets for a tour in the palace offer a long walk through the whole monument, letting its visitors walk through doors, rooms and the magic gardens of the palace, as well as its galleries and more artistic zones. In fact, this is the reason why we recommend a guided tour of the Seville fortress, because it has a lot of secret places that by our own, we would not discover and enjoy the monument as it deserves.

LOCATION

The last reason why we recommend buying tickets to visit the Seville fortress is the facility to combine our tour and the rest of your plans, because it has a very flexible schedule.

The schedule changes depending on the month: the palace is open to the public every day of the week, from 9.30 am to 5 pm between October 29th and March 31th and from 9.30 am to 7 pm between April 1st and October 28th, in high season.
