THE 10 MOST CHARMING SQUARES IN SEVILLE

When we want to visit a city, we use to plan visits to the most “common” places. The typical ones such as well-known monuments, temples, constructions and others. However, sometimes when we visit a place, we forget to pay attention to the everyday life in the city, which is maybe the most real thing that you would see. Everybody should explore the streets and the corners of the places we visit by strolling, observing the little details and breathing the air of the cities and its squares. Now, we are going to focus concretely on the squares, the 10 most charming squares in Seville.

1. “PLAZA DE ESPAÑA”

It is one of the most important squares in Seville and it is well known both locally and nationally for the importance of the elements represented in it and for its beauty. It is located in the famous María Luisa Park (which, despite not being the main character today, is another beautiful place to walk through). It has a semi-circle shape and it is a tribute to the former Spanish colonies. One of the charming facts about this square is the presence of a little “river” with the same semicircular shape that the square, where we can rent a boat and make a beautiful tour through it.

2. “PLAZA DE LA VIRGEN DE LOS REYES” + “PLAZA DEL TRIUNFO”

They are located next to famous places as the Cathedral, the Archivo de Indias and the fortress. These are very frequented squares both daily and on more important dates such as Holy Week or the Immaculate Conception Day. In addition, the “Plaza del Triunfo” has been voted several times as one of the most beautiful ones in the city.

3. “PLAZA DEL DUQUE DE LA VICTORIA”

This square is also very important on special dates such as the Holy Week. In fact, it is the square where the “carrera oficial” begins. It is located in a garden area and has a monument of Velázquez.

4. “PLAZA DE AMERICA”

People always stop here. It is a beautiful and traditional site for its colors and materials. It is located next to the archaeological museum and the museum of arts and customs, and it is a large garden that intersperses small spaces with fountains and benches made of typical Sevillian tiles that, together with the color of the albero and the plants… it is not to leave there.

5. “PLAZA DE SANTA ISABEL”

This square has been voted several times as the most beautiful in Seville. It is located between the Vergara street and the Santa Paula street. Honestly, places like this are best enjoyed in person.

6. “PLAZA NUEVA” + “PLAZA DE SAN FRANCISCO”

We could say that they are the most central squares in the city. On them we can find the central metro stop and they are next to the Seville town hall. Surrounded by many shops, it is a place for varied activities and celebrations.

7. “PLAZA DE LA ENCARNACIÓN”

It is the square where we find the lookout called “Las Setas”. It has a lot of life and the views from the lookout are incomparable, especially if we see the sunset from above.

8. “ALAMEDA DE HÉRCULES”

Possibly one of the best known areas by young people for being an area surrounded by entertainment places, dozens of terraces, bars, cafes, etc. The two columns of Hercules are originally from a Roman temple and its civic center is also famous, which was a small palace in the past.

9. “PLAZA DE SAN LORENZO”

Undoubtedly another of the most traditional squares in Seville. Its religious and historical elements remind us of the city in which we are: its 3 brotherhoods, the parish, and other elements. In addition, it is surrounded by old houses that make it an environment difficult to describe.

10. “PLAZA DE SANTA CRUZ”

Another of the most beautiful squares in Seville according to several votings, in addition to the existence of more squares in this neighbourhood which are in the list of the most beautiful squares in Seville. For that reason, we recommend a making a tour of any of these squares.
